SoftRead is a multimedia, multilingual instruction and information package. This software was developed at a major university famous for its language programs. SoftRead is composed of two applications, one (SoftRead Author) for authoring and materials development, and another (SoftRead Player) for playback of what has been authored. While SoftRead was developed for language instruction, many of its features can be used for organizing and documenting information, such as histories, study material and retrieval, abstracts and annotations, and other information storage needs. A printing option makes it easy to provide a non-interactive hard copy of the content generated. SoftRead Author allows you to create multimedia content in any language that uses a Romanized alphabet. SoftRead allows you to easily create dictionaries, gloss specific vocabulary items and expressions, create quiz items, writing exercises, word webs, and crossword puzzles based on the content. SoftRead even allows you to link graphics, audio and QuickTime video to the content created. SoftRead Player allows the user to view the content created in the authoring program. SoftRead Player utilizes the content text, dictionary, selected vocabulary items and expressions, quiz item, writing exercises, crossword puzzles, and multimedia links (pictures, audio, and movies) created in the author. It also adds the following features:
