CLIPS
CLIPS (Computer Language Instruction and Practice Software) is the most comprehensive grammar language tool available on the web. With over 75 lessons, 185 segments per language no other web-based program covers grammar like CLIPS. Students start CLIPS by taking a diagnostic test which gives them a score of red or green for each segment. After the diagnosis, the student must review each section on which he/she received a red mark. Each section has a set of rules, objectives, questions (of various levels) and additional help. The student is required to take smaller assessments to verify mastery in each segment.
Universities such as Brigham Young find CLIPS an essential part of incoming freshmen English classes. Freshmen Student English Grammar skills are often times below university English requirements. As such all entering freshmen at BYU are required to complete English CLIPS while taking their first year English Class. This comprehensive program usually takes students a full semester to complete.
